Betty Ann Schilling, nee Lampson, 77, of Kingsport TN, passed away at home early on March 10th in the presence of loving family, after a brave battle with cancer. She was born in Lowville, NY to Maxine and Robert Lampson. She graduated from the Lowville Free Academy in 1958. She met her future husband, Dr. Curtis Schilling Jr in Syracuse, NY, and married in1961. She raised two wonderful sons, Dr. Curtis III and Robert in Croton-on-Hudson, NY. She worked in the Social Services at Phelps Memorial Hospital. She spent the next 20 years as the Textile Renovation Coordinator at the historical Blennerhassett Mansion in Ohio.

An accomplished Fiber Artist, Betty Ann’s true passion was quilting. She taught classes in Marietta, OH and mentored several budding artists in Tri-Cities area of Tennessee. An active member of the Sycamore Shoals Quilting Group, she designed and sewed several Quilts of Valor for war veterans and adorable baby quilts for anyone she knew who was expecting. An outgoing, people person, Betty Ann always enjoyed a glass of wine, never met a stranger, and was the last one to leave a party.

She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Larry Lampson. She is survived by her husband Dr. Curtis Jr of 56 years, both sons, Dr. Curtis III (Dr. Jennifer McCusker) and Robert (Diane Detweiler), Brother Edward Lampson, and sister-in-law Marie Schilling Patterson.

Per her request, there will be no viewing, but there will be a memorial service in Kingsport during April (details to be announced). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her behalf to Friends of Blennerhassett or the Kingsport Hematology Oncology Associates.
